Good luck with the golf, Brian!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to earn eighty thousand pounds a year for playing golf and watching football?

To most it is just a dream, but to Scunthorpe manager Brian Laws it is apparently a reality. I like most of you I should think, always assumed that every morning Mr Laws would conduct a training session where all of his fit players took part and his injured ones went for a visit to club physio Nigel Adkins.

Astonishingly though I am told that training sessions under the Laws regime are not compulsory! Predictably, because of this undisciplined attitude to training, half of our ‘heroes’ don’t attend every session.

While growing up playing football I was always taught practice makes perfect and if you work hard enough at it you can do whatever you want. The Beckham’s and Owen’s of this world didn’t get where they are today by missing training, nor did the Ferguson’s or Wenger’s win championships by spending a day at the golf course. Something Laws obviously forgot last Wednesday when he spent a day at the course improving his golf handicap instead of working out how to get United out of division three’s dropzone.

Well thanks Brian and good luck with the golf by the way, I’ve a feeling your going to have a lot more chance to practice soon…
