Things going really well here with the Irish Iron with the Irish Iron membership records being broken.....we have 110 this season beating our previous best of 107 7 seasons ago....many thanks to all of you

Getting designs done up for next seasons membership badges already,the work never stops!!!

MEMBERSHIP


Irish Iron is the official supporters club of Scunthorpe United in Ireland, we are affiliated to the Club and all monies raised by us through membership fees, sales of our own range of merchandise and fund-raisers go to Glanford Park as sponsorship.
A total of 80 people joined Irish Iron last season, our target is to reach 100 this season and, to help achieve this, cost of membership has been reduced to €15 or £10 Sterling which gets members a membership card, new key ring and both new members only enamel Badges post paid in Ireland or Britain.The members only Badges are in limited editions of 100 only and are not for sale separately.

Membership of Irish Iron is open to everyone, everywhere, you don't need to be Irish to join, a healthy love of all things Iron will suffice! We have members all over Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore and even Peru!!.

IRISH IRON PLAYER OF THE SEASON 2007-08
Joe Murphy was the runaway winner of our award last season and was presented with his award and Whiskey after the Huddersfield game.It's the second time an Irishman has been our Player of the season after Andy Keogh picked up last seasons award.

Grateful thanks to both Ron Attwooll from Galway who kindly sponsored the engraved silver salver and to Kevin McDaid who sponsored the Whiskey which were presented to Joe.

Members are asked to submit their votes for player of the season in early April, e-mail to irishiron@eircom.net or post to the address provided.

Congratulations Cliff and Sandra
Irish Iron made a presentation at Glanford Park following the Brighton game of some Irish Crystal to Cliff and Sandra to mark their engagement. They are wished a long and happy future together by all Irish Iron members. Cliff always makes time for Irish Iron members on trips across which is greatly appreciated by everyone and has a huge collection of Irish Iron merchandise which Sandra just loves to see arriving on each trip across!!!

PLAYER KIT SPONSORSHIP 2007/08
This season we will sponsor the following 5 players kits;

At the end of the season the Club sends us the Players kit that we have sponsored which we will then sell/raffle to raise funds towards next season's sponsorship. Any members wishing to purchase a Players shirt please contact B. Griffin at the address provided.

IRISH PLAYERS AT GLANFORD PARK
There are 4 Republic of Ireland Players at Glanford Park this season, Clifford Byrne, Joe Murphy and Ian Morris all from Dublin and Jim Goodwin from Waterford while new signing Martin Paterson has just recently had a call up to the Northern Ireland squad.

TRAVELLING TO SCUNTHORPE
Ryanair have a Dublin to Doncaster-Sheffield route that makes it very easy for Irish Supporters to get over for games. Fares are very reasonable too, especially if booked well in advance. Check out their website www.ryanair.com for more details.

Sadly, the Ryanair Dublin to Humberside service has been cancelled.
