Iron's in profile: Matthew Smithson

Likes peacocks, and pies
That's right, it's Matthew Smithson or Smitho as he is most commonly known. Smitho spends his time between Gunness, where he follows the progress of the local village Peacock and Manchester where he is currently studying at University.

Smitho can be seen at Glanford Park for the majority of home games and is a regular at United's away games where he enjoys singing until he is hoarse wearing his jester hat and retro claret and blue Scunthorpe shirt.

Swansea at home in the play-offs in 99.

Game you'd most like to forget?

A couple, Lincoln away in the play-offs last season and Oxford away in 2000 when we were relegated back to Division Three.

Favourite moment following the Iron?

Garcia scoring at Wembley.

Funniest moment watching United?

Seeing the Hull fan get smacked on the pitch in 2001.

Daybreaker. (Ed- A demi-God of the club's official messageboard, rumoured to be looking into getting a restraining order against Smitho. Smitho recently listed one of his life ambitions as - meet Daybreaker. The two are yet to knowingly meet).

Views on the current management?

Excellent hard-working manager who is proven in taking us up.

Where do you think we need to strenghen if at all?

Midfield, we definately need at least two new players although realistically we can't afford to do that.

Who would you most like to see in the claret and blue (Male or Female)?

Michael Owen.

Prediction for our finishing place 2003/04?

2nd.
