Away Days: Plainmoor

How many fans were there?

I'd say between 80 and 100, a fair turn out.

And what was the atmosphere like amongst them?

Quiet, until the ref showed his incapabilities.

What did you think to the Plainmoor ground?

I have never been before so I have nothing to compare it to. The away end is new, has a roof on - a first I believe - and is fine. It must be cramped though when Exeter come to town. Two of the other sides are similar while the fourth is a bit of a shed. It is a really low ground and I can't imagine it ever being intimidating.

At the end of the match Brian Laws said he was happy with a point, while our reporter said that United were left handing on - was the point deserved and were we at risk of losing the match at the end?

Er.... I thought we were poor. We didn't defend well, mainly because nothing was stopped in midfield so the defence was swamped. Beagrie had a shocker - couldn't beat his man and his set-pieces were terrible. when we did attack we too often took the wrong option. I thought a point was fair enough, but Torquay shaded it and if their equaliser had come any earlier I reckon we would have got nowt.

On that performance, how do you think Torquay will do this season?

They play pretty football, if they can teach Kuffour to cross and replace Gritton then they could go up. They want to cut out the diving mind.

Finally, are you confident going into Tuesday's game against Rochdale?

We have got to sort out the defence. Cotteril has been on the bench for three weeks now, so he msut be somewhere near fitness. Ridley's a square peg in a round hole and we missed Stanton overlapping on Saturday. Graves and Kilford were awful so Alex must be due a recall - even though we conceded after he came on we were probably doing better with him on the pitch.
