Adkins delighted to quieten Canaries

A goalless draw at Carrow Road leaves the Iron seventh in the table after an impressive start to the season.

It followed on from a 1-0 win at Colchester on Saturday, as the players continue to prove they can step up a level following last season's League One title success.

"We are on a fairytale journey of discovery and we are enjoying every minute of it," said Adkins.

"It was a deserved point and I'm absolutely delighted to come away from here with a draw because Norwich are a good side and it's always a difficult place to come to.

"That's four points from two away games now in the space of four days - and two clean sheets as well - and it sets us up nicely for our home game against Watford, that should be another memorable occasion.

"I thought we had our chances and so did they. There was some backs to the wall defending towards the end when we had to go in with fixed bayonets but I thought the lads showed a lot of resolve and got their reward.

"I'm delighted for the players and I'm also delighted for our supporters because it was a good night for them too."

Norwich were booed by their own fans at the weekend as they lost at home to Sheffield Wednesday, and boss Peter Grant felt his players showed a lot of character to put in a much improved performance.

"I can't fault them, they've gone out there and worked their socks off for me and the supporters, you could see how determined they were to win the game," he said.

"The commitment was there for all to see, and that is a very important thing to have.

"It was one of those games which could have gone either way. I was fearing the worst when they had a shot which took a deflection but fortunately it came back off the post.

"Then we go up the other end and young Chris Martin hits the bar with a magnificent strike. I was behind that and I thought it was in all the way but unfortunately for us it curved at the last minute."
