The Iron boss praised the whole teams commitment and claimed his team thoroughly deserved the victory despite not producing a sparkling performance.
"We've worked hard and I've always said that you can't fault the players for their efforts, Maybe today wasn't one of our best footballing performances, but we got the result.'' Adkins told BBC Radio Humberside.
Horsfield took the plaudits and Adkins was quick to praise the loanee.
"Geoff was massive for us,'' Adkins beamed in his post match press conference.
"His presence, leadership and experience is what we've been after. We're delighted to have him on board and we're sure he'll help the team and the young players."
