Adkins says Iron are looking tired

A first-half goal from Luke Chadwick was enough to secure all three points for the controversial franchised side, who still have feint hopes of automatic promotion.

"We didn't have the zip, energy or spark that I felt we needed," he said.

"I had a go at the guys at half-time because I felt we looked very tired.

"We were playing against a very good side who sat there and put two men in front of the back four, denying us the opportunity to pass the ball and play it, and hit us on the counter-attack."

Adkins was angered by Chadwick's goal, claiming it should have been ruled out for a foul, and also felt the Iron should have been given a penalty for a foul on Ben May.

"The goal shouldn't have stood. David Mirfin had gone to head the ball and their player had his foot aroun Mirfin's ears. It should have been a free-kick to us.

"I've looked at the tape and can speak with confidence when I say we should have had a penalty. May had two people dragging him to the floor."
