Adkins says no Kandol deal

Kandol, 28, is one of four Leeds United players told they can leave Elland Road on free transfers. Alan Sheehan, Andy Robinson and Lubomir Michalik are also available.

Simon Grayson, the Leeds manager, has said there have been "one or two enquiries" for the players, while the Bradford Telegraph & Argus went one further and claimed Kandol's move to the Iron is agreed and will be confirmed on July 1.

Adkins, however, claimed this is nonsense. He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph he has not agreed to sign Kandol, a player who is a former transfer target of his but not a player he hopes to sign this summer.

"I don't know where this has come from, but there is nothing in it. I have had no contact with Leeds United and no contact with Tresor Kandol," he said.
