Beags out till new year

Despite playing all ninety minutes in Saturday's two nil victory over Boston United, Peter Beagrie's achilles injury has not healed sufficiently enough for him to avoid an operation.

It's a massive blow to the Iron as Beagrie will now not be in action again until after the new year.

Beagrie has been struggling in recent weeks and surgery was clearly the only answer.

"I could see aspects of his game where he was struggling" said United boss Brian Laws.

"He has always been the quickest over one yard, that's his game, getting away from defenders over that first yard".

"He has been struggling at times to do that because of his achilles and he wants to get it right".

"And if he's right, we play well and do well. If it means he is going to have to be out for five or six weeks, or maybe even longer, we will have to put up with that and hopefully he will be back with all guns blazing in the second half of the season when importantly that's when we will need him most".
