Beagrie, who has yet to officially accept the one-year contract extension offered to him by the club but is expected to stay, says confidence is high at Glanford Park.
He said: "We're looking at the play-offs and I don't think you can look at it from a negative point of view and say 'we're just here to consolidate and maintain our position in this division'
"That's a negative straight away and you want to at least go for the play-offs.
"From what I've seen of the division you get a lot more time on the ball.
"It's not as physical and that'll suit us, because certainly we were one of the top three footballing sides in League Two."
