Beags still pushing for play-off place

The wideman turned 40 on Monday but keeps going strong and he insists that United can push on despite a recent run of results that has seen them fall to 15th in the table.

"My sole aim is to get Scunthorpe into the play-offs," he told The Sun. "We have a good young side who could certainly do that."

Beags has been struggling with a hamstring injury recently and can't wait to get back to full match fitness and doing the business on the pitch.

"As for me, my contract is up at the end of the season and I wouldn'r need telling twice if I wasn't up to playing after that.

"I can't get enough of football. I went to Scunthorpe at 36 as a player-coach, thinking I'd only be having a part-time role on the pitch. But I went straight into the team and I'm happy to still play."
