The club revealed the bid on their official website this evening.

Norwich made the bid via a phonecall today with club chairman Steve Wharton.

"Norwich City have made a bid for Andy, but we have rejected it," manager Brian Laws told the club's official site.

"We value Andy Dawson much higher than what they were offering and we have to make sure any deal is right for Scunthorpe United.

"We are aware that Andy is out of contract in the summer but we can still command a fee for him so we'll wait until then if necessary.

"We are not in a position where we have to sell our best players. We are trying to gain promotion and we need our good youngsters if we are going to achieve it.

"Andy is playing as well as he ever has for us and we have not given up hope of him signing a new contract with us.

"Of course the player would like to play at higher level and while it is important for a move to be right for him it also has be right for Scunthorpe United.

"We intend to be honest with Andy and keep him informed of what's going on."
