Board to consider stadium improvements

Last updated : 28 May 2009 By Matt Blanchard

If Scunthorpe avoid relegation from the Championship during the 2009/10 season, Football League regulations state that Championship clubs must have all seater stadiums within three years, and the previous campaign in 2007/08 counts as one.

Therefore it would mean the Doncaster Road End terrace would have to be converted into an all seater area - which would reduce the capacity, already the lowest of current Championship teams, by more than 1,000.

The proposed development

The club toyed with the idea of a new development three years ago, but plans were put on hold.

It is beleived that the directors will discuss a possible extension to the Iron Bar ahead of the forthcoming season- after growing demand on the Iron-Bru.net messageboard.
