United had to weather a Gulls storm in the last few minutesof the match, and manager Brian Laws told Iron-Bru.net's correspondent that he was `not unhappy with a point`.

He said: "I thought we were brilliant in the first half, but with the wind as it was, the writing was on the wall against a team like Torquay in the second half.

"On days like this you just have to dig in, and we did."

Torquay United boss Leroy Rosenior said: "I'm delighted with a point in the context of the game.

"We couldn't play the flowing football we like to play and we had to go more direct, but that's the way it is at his time of year.

"The attitude of the players was terrific and there is still a long way to go."
