The Iron tried to re-sign the midfielder on loan last month, but would not pay as high a percentage of his wages as the South Coast club wanted.
Now Poyet has indicated he will lower Brighton's demands - but still expects Scunthorpe to contribute more towards his wages than they offered.
“I think we are coming to a point where everyone is losing and we need to be more flexible, Matt, us and them," he told the Brighton Argus.
“We are losing because we have a player we are paying week in and week out and not using. He is losing because even if he is getting paid he is not playing football and any other team, including Scunthorpe, are losing because they don’t have the player.
“I think we all need to be a bit more flexible in terms of an agreement and find a solution. Let’s hope we can do it in January.”
Earlier this week, Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws indicated he would be making another approach for Sparrow - who came through the Iron's youth system, after growing up in North Lincolnshire - during next month's transfer window.
