Bristol City deny Hooper interest

The Daily Mirror claimed the Robins were preparing a £1.5million offer for the striker.

Adam Baker, the club's head of media, told the Bristol Evening Post that the club's manager Gary Johnson had made no enquiries.

However Baker's knowledge of Johnson's transfer plans could be doubted as he went on to threaten a complaint to the Scunthorpe Telegraph, claiming they had mis-quoted Johnson.

In fact the quotes they complained about were never used by the Telegraph, and had merely been posted on the Iron-Bru.net messageboard by a mischievous poster.

Nigel Adkins, the Iron manager, has repeatedly said Hooper is not for sale.
