The Ireland U21 international's three month loan is due to finish after next week's visit of Lincoln City, but he will be beginning a three match suspension instead.

He was sent off on Saturday in the 52nd minute of the match against Boston after bringing down Mark Greaves.

"I didn't think the tackle merited a straight red but there is nothing I can do," admitted Byrne today.

"I just have to get on with it. We have a big game tomorrow against Hull which is a local derby for the fans and we need to get back to winning ways.2

The club have spoken to Sunderland about keeping Byrne in North Lincolnshire in a pernament switch, although it still remains unlikley that the Black Cats would allow one of their best prospects to leave.
