Byrne looking forward to massive Carlisle game

Byrne is currently on loan with United from Premiership Sunderland, where he originally played alongside McGill in their youth sides.

McGill is a regular for Carlisle, and Byrne's official websites slaims it has been hell at home ever since.

"There has been some ribbing going on, we've had a joke about it and it will probably continue right up until the replay," said Byrne today.

"Bren reckons we've blown it because we didn't beat them at our place.

"You would never have guessed that we would end up facing each other in such a big cup game. It was already a big game but the fact the winners will play Leeds and that it is on Sky makes it massive.

"It's great for me because three weeks ago I couldn't get a game in Sunderland's reserve team, now I will be playing in front of the live TV cameras."

Byrne is hoping that he can extend his loan period past the current two months.
