He was granted bail, and is due back at Scunthorpe magistrates on January 27 when it is likley the case will be committed to Grimsby Crown Court.

A Crown Court has power to impose stronger sentences than Magistrates Court.

The charge follows an incident on Frodingham Road in Scunthorpe on November 10 when a man was allegedly struck with a bottle.
