Club plan ground improvement

The club have held meetings with Humberside Police to discuss improving crownd control and seperation at matches, and are planning to make amendments to the ground.

Iron chairman Steve Wharton, responding publically to a letter from an unamed supporter, said: "We are keen to make improvements, especially if it creates a better environment for families to enjoy their football.

"We are drawing up plans and will invite tenders for the work as quickly as possible.

"We are hopeful that these improvements, recommended by the police, will enable us to reduce our police costs which are becoming excessive."

Wharton, who will be replaced as chairman by Chris Holland at next month's AGM, also expressed an interest in a fans committee and a Junior Iron Supporters Club.

He added: "A fans committee is something we all would like to see but unfortunately people are required to devote their time to make it a success and for whatever reason it never seems to be viable.

"I have suggested that the Club should organise it but some supporters might think that was unacceptable. It certainly won't happen unless a lot of work is put into it."
