Corden hopes to emulate Beags

Corden will make his Iron debut in Saturday's visit of Leyton Orient, and is looking forward to training and playing alongside veteran Peter Beagrie.

39-year-old Beags is still more than a match for the best right-backs League Two can offer, and Corden is hoping to emulate his success at Glanford Park.

He said: He's had a great career and I've got total respect for him.

"He's done it at the highest level and he's still doing it."

Corden arrives at United on a free transfer after falling out with Mansfield caretaker boss Carlton Palmer.

Despite that, he is one of the most respected wingers in the Football League and has tasted promotion from the basement division before.

He added: "I'm a player that likes to get at the full back and get crosses into the box.

"I like being in the position of getting one-on-ones and getting good balls into the box.

"I had a few options and thought this was the better one. It's a nice little club, the club seems to be going somewhere.

"I spoke to the manager and he's very positive, and they've got great ambition."

Midfielder Ian Baraclough returns to the squad on Saturday after missing the loss at Wycombe through suspension.

Fellow midfield man Richard Kell picked up his fifth booking of the season against the Choirboys, but does not start his ban until next weekend.
