Cotts broke his leg in the 1-0 derby defeat at the hands of Lincoln in September, and has struggled to return to fitness.

Iron manager Brian Laws said: "Having to do this is the time that I hate my job, I hope that he can find a club to take him on because he certainly deserves that."

As previously reported on Iron-Bru.net Nathan Stanton has been offered a three year contract, as has Andy Dawson who has already made it clear that he will be joining Hull City in the summer.

Ian Kilford, Martin Carruthers, Peter Beagrie, Terry Barwick, Andy Parton and Andy Butler have all been offered one year deals to stay with the club.

Richard Kell and Bob Taylor have not had their contracts renewed, but they have been tolf that they can return for pre-season training to try and win a fresh contract with the club.

Kell will spend the summer at Lilleshall working to build up his leg strength.
