The centre-back picked up a groin injury in the 3-3 draw with Hartlepool on Monday and hasn't trained all week, but United boss Brian Laws is confident his captain will be fit for Friday's top of the table clash.

Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "I've spoken to Andy and he seems very confident that he will be okay for tomorrow.

"But we've rested him this week because he has played a lot of matches and picked up a minor strain."

Meanwhile, midfielder Ian Baraclough will be back in the side after recovering from an ankle knock which made him miss the Hartlepool match.
