Lee Hoos, Leicester's chief executive, said the choice of Friday - rather than Sunday - was to avoid the possibility of moving it again for TV coverage.
"We have looked at all possible options and we believe playing the game on the Friday evening is the best solution," he told his club's official website.
"We did not want to schedule the game on a Sunday and then possibly have to move it again to a Friday evening due to Sky. You can never predict these things with certainty, but it will be a big League One fixture."
