Evans to miss start of new season

United's second choice keeper  is being troubled by a niggling problem to one of his fingers and will undergo minor surgery.

Evans didn't make a single League appearance last season due to the form of first-choice goalkeeper Paul Musselwhite.

Club physiotherapist Nigel Adkins said: "The operation that Tommy has undergone is a minor one to a knuckle joint.

"Surgeons are always cautious by nature and he has said the recovery period will be three months."
