Fans issue warning to potential owner

Local nightclub owner John Hayes heads a consortium of local businessmen, who are subject to a confidentiality agreement and cannot be named, looking to purchase 900K shares in the club at a face value cost of £450K.

Current chairman Steve Wharton's desire to stand down from the post is well known, and none of the current board members seem willing to take the extra responsibility the post would warrant.

However it seems an outsider may well become our next chairman, and in light of this in our last site poll we asked whether you would want Hayes - the only member of the group who's name is publically known - as chairman of Scunthorpe United Football Club.

And it seems that fans are extremely weary of the man, with 57.1% of respondents saying that they would not want him as chairman of our football club.

42.9% though were happy for him to take on the post, but it seems that Hayes will have a substantial PR mission to navigate if he comes into the frame.

In our latest site poll we ask whether two wins in our last two games constitute's signs of a turnaround or another false dawn.

It has been suggested that the results owed more to the poor nature of the opposition than than the strengths of Scunthorpe United, the opposite viewpoint points to the fact that we scored three goals in each games and probably could have netted more times.
