First team squad return to training

The players have been back into Glanford Park on two occasions throughout the close season for checks on their fitness levels, with manager Brian Laws saying at the time that he was pleased with the way the players have looked after themselves.

Although the squad will be training, they will not be asked to push themselves until next week.

The only new face in the squad is 21-year-old forward Paul Wheatcroft, who joined from Premiership outfit Bolton Wanderers.

It is unclear whether Andy Dawson will return tomorrow as his future is still up in the air, although it looks increasingly likely that he will be plying his trade with the Iron for the 2002-03 season.

“I am hoping the players will be really looking forward to it, we have a lot of new ideas for this season particularly with the young players involved," manager Brian Laws told the club's official website yesterday.

“We are going to have to do a lot of coaching and work with them, I have a formation that I want to start with.

"It never seems to stay that way because of injuries but I am hoping that we will still be playing a 4-4-2 formation next season. We have the players that can play it and it is the one they are most comfortable with.”
