The ex-Stockport captain, who arrived at Glanford Park in June, was stretchered off in Tuesday's 4-0 victory over Winterton Rangers, which was ironically his first Iron appearance.

"We now know Jim will be out for up to eight weeks," manager Brian Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"That's a big blow for him - and for us.

"I would like to bring someone in in time for next week at Brentford.

"But I am not just going to bring in anybody. It has to be a player I feel is right for us.

"I have been offered youngsters with no experience, but that is not what I am looking for."

Meanwhile, the Iron boss hopes to snap up Sheffield United forward Billy Sharp at the start of next week.
