Groves rumours persist

Groves was demoted from his player-manager position with Grimsby Town last week following a 6-0 drubbing at Oldham, immediately bringing speculation that he would fit Scunthorpe's needs for an experienced midfield man.

Provincial press reports yesterday went into overdrive, with three local newspapers all making claims over his future.

Iron manager Brian Laws admitted to the Scunthorpe Telegraph that he wants to bring in an experienced midfielder, and hopes to have a new arrival at the club soon possibly in another loan deal.

Although he would not comment on record the newspaper claimed that Grove's could sign for the club later today (Friday).

Their sister paper, the Grimsby Telegraph, however plays down speculation quoting Groves as saying: "someone has put two and two together and made five".

However the Lincolnshire Echo also joined in the fun, claiming that Groves has applied for the vacant manager's position at Boston United following Friday's sacking of Neil Thompson.

Confusingly for Iron fans looking to read between the lines all three newspapers are linked under the Northcliffe Group, so surely their stories should collate?

After all the speculation would Iron-Bru.net hazard a guess at where his future lies?

Maybe next week.
