Hayes makes first return

Hayes made a scoring debut for the Tykes on Saturday, and will be desperate to make his mark against his former club.

Iron boss Brian Laws is looking forward to the battle against his former player.

He said: "With the first home game against Barnsley should be a hum-dinger.

"It's a local derby and with Hayes, and Richard Kell leaving us for them this summer it should spice it up even more."

Iron midfielder Ian Baraclough has been passed fit to play despite suffering a head injury in Saturday's loss at Brentford.

And Laws may be able to call on the veteran pairing of Peter Beagrie and Tommy Johnson, both of whom were left out of Saturday's squad.

Barnsley defender Paul Reid is a doubt for the game with a thigh strain, and will be given a late fitness test.

If the 22-year-old former Rangers player is ruled out then Matt Carbon and Antony Kay will continue to deputise.

The Tykes are forced into making once change, however, with left-back Robbie Williams serving a one-match ban.

He was sent-off for deliberate handball on Saturday, with Nicky Wroe likely to deputise.
