Hayes quit Glanford Park in the summer and this weekend's clash will be the second time he has come up against his old side.

He was part of the Tykes side that travelled to Glanford Park in August, which was soundly beaten 2-1 by United.

But the Yorkshire side are currently in form and are sitting pretty in the League One play-off positions, something Hayes is keen to cement with a win when Scunthorpe visit Oakwell.

He told Barnsley's official website: "I had a good time at Scunthorpe, they really gave me my chance in football.

"I scored my first goals there and appreciate everything they did for me, but that is now firmly in the past.

"All we want is three points, and do not care how we get them. Of course I wouldn't mind a little cheeky goal, but it does not really matter as we want to win all our home games.

"It is a massive game, we have to win as many games as we can at Oakwell and then take that on the road."
