Hereford match is called off

A pitch inspection at 1pm saw referee Graham Laws pull the plug after he deemed an area near the centre of the pitch unplayable.

The Glanford Park turn has been partly covered all week and the club purchased new covers in a bid to get the green light for the game.

The whole of the pitch was covered on Friday night - and the covers should have coped with temperatures as low as minus four. Temperatures in Scunthorpe fell to minus three overnight.

But, according to Laws, the pitch deteriorated after the covers were taken off and it would have been unsafe to play. Both teams had said in the morning that they felt the pitch was playable.
