Hodges Leaves Mariners

Unfortunately for the ex Scunthorpe winger the mariners were unable to reach a deal to cater for both parties.

Hodges yesterday announced that he would have liked to have signed for the mariners but that he didnt have much chance due to Grimsby struggling abit with a few lads contracts.

He remained upbeat after leaving though saying 'There are a few clubs sniffing around at the moment so I'll sit tight and wait and see what happens'.

It is likely that the state of Grimsby's finances played a big part in Hodges not signing for the Mariners as the Grimsby squad today voted unanimously against chairman Peter Furneaux's proposed pay cut.

As a result Danny Coyne and Phil Jevons have been transfer listed in an attempt to raise some much needed funds for the first division outfit.
