The ex Scunthorpe star has agreed to go to Blundell Park on trial in the hope of winning a contract with the Mariners.

A move to Grimsby Town would be ideal for Hodges as it will allow him to stay in the area and play first division football.

It will also be ideal for the cash strapped Mariners as they will not have to pay a fee for the player due to him currently being a free agent.

If Hodges does win a contract with the Mariners it will also see him return to Glanford Park much sooner than expected as the Iron have a pre season 'friendly' arranged with the club.
