Hurst, 23, has signed a two-year contract with the Cumbrians. He is a replacement for the former Iron winger Cleveland Taylor, who was sold to Brentford last week.

'He's one that we know all about and we are delighted that he is with us," the Carlisle manager Greg Abbott told the club's official website.

"He will come in and provide a very good option right across the middle of the park as he has an excellent delivery and very good awareness. We are looking forward to working with him."
