Ireland call on Murphy

The Dubliner, who has one cap for his country, has been in impressive form for Scunthorpe this season.

He is one of three keepers in the squad, with Newcastle's Shay Given first choice. Birmingham's Colin Doyle and Murphy will provide backup.

The match will take place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday November 17.

"We want to finish the campaign on a high note by taking three points and finishing third, so there is plenty for us to play for," said caretaker Republic boss Don Givens, who was put in charge of the side following the sacking of Steve Staunton.
