Adkins is hopeful that the opportunity to be a first team regular at Scunthorpe will persuade the blond Scotsman that moving to Glanford Park will be the best choice for him.
"I spoke to him a few weeks ago and have now spoken to him again with his father and his agent," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"They came down from the family home in Scotland and we have had an excellent conversation with them.
"We have offered him the opportunity to play Championship football - to come in and use our stage to propel himself back up there to where I think he knows he can perform, which is at the highest level."
