Scunny are in danger of becoming an Northampton Town feeder club after the second division outfit signed two Ex-Irons recently.

First up was Darryn Stamp, who unbelievably is again a second division player after finishing the season as top scorer for conference outfit Scarborough.

The Cobblers initial approach for the lanky forward was deemed illegal and saw them reported to the FA by Boro.

Their next bid, which was legal, wzs rejected as derisory. However, with Stampy out of contract he had the power to walk and decided to test himself in the second division.

Due to his age Boro are entitled to a transfer fee, which will be decided on 24th June by a tribunal.

The secone Ex-Iron that Northampton have signed this close season is Paul Harsley, who has had a tremendous season with Halifax Town - despite the Shaymen being the worst side in the football league.

They of course join another former Iron favourite Jamie Forrester, who has been plying his trade at the Sixfields Stadium since his unsuccessful spell with FC Utrecht.

Another recent transfer which will interest Iron fans is the signing by Boston United of Grimsby Town youngster Ben Chapman.

The Scunny born player ended the career of Peter Morrison two years ago when an horrendous tackle in a reserve fixture resulted in a compound fracture of the tibia and fibia.

Chapman was given a straight red for the incident which saw the match abandoned.

Pete was recently forced to make the decision to retire after six operations failed to see any improvement in the injury.

Chapman will make his first return to Glanford Park since that ngiht on November 09th, and is sure to get an emotive welcome from the home fans.
