United's first home game of the season will be against Burnley the following Saturday.
New Iron signing Paul Hayes will make a quick return to his former club Barnsley, as United play at Oakwell on September 15.
United will come up against former boss Brian Laws on Tuesday October 23 when they make the trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday, with the return leg on April 5
A familiar face will be returning to Glanford Park on January 19 - with Andy Keogh part of the Wolves side making the trip north. United head to Molineux on February 16.
The derbies with Hull City will be on November 24 at Glanford Park and March 8 at the KC Stadium.
Boxing Day will see Scunthorpe making the trip to face Preston North End, while Barnsley visit on New Year's Day.
United will end the season by hosting Colchester United on Sunday May 4.
