Iron target Emnes opts for Swansea move

Emnes, 22, can play up front or on the wing, and will spend the next month at the Liberty Stadium.

The Iron have revealed he is a missed target to assure supporters that they are actively seeking to strengthen the squad.

"I'm looking to bring in high calibre players and Marvin Emnes fitted the bill," Baraclough told the club's official website.

"It's frustrating. He's chosen to go somewhere where there's a far bigger squad, and whether he will play as much as he wants I don't know.

"I'm pursuing other options and hopefully one or two of them might come to fruition. It's not just plucking names out of the air though."

Emnes is a former Holland U21 international who cost Middlesbrough £3.2million from Sparta Rotterdam in 2008.

Baraclough has also been knocked back by a Premier League club, who were willing to lend a young player but now say they are not going to make him available after players returned from Premier League duty with injuries.
