Latest on Iron takeover bid

Tonight's Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph reports that John Hayes leads a consortium of local businessmen who have offered to purchase 900K worth of unsold shares in Scunthorpe United.

Three other businessmen join Hayes in the consortium, although these have not yet been named.

At least one of the four men is likley to join the board, and it is more than possible that as a result a number of the current board will step down.

The move mirrors similar events towards the end of the 2001-02 season, at the time Des Comerford - who lead the bid - detailed to Iron-Bru.net plans to improve the financial situation at Scunthorpe United including building a new shop at the front of the ground which would guarentee £100K income a year due to commerical leases.
