Defender Phil Gulliver (Middlesbrough), midfielder Jeff Smith (Bolton) and striker Cleveland Taylor (Bolton) will all join Laws' men in training at Glanford Park for the first time tomorrow morning.

Middlesbrough man Phil Gulliver is yet to start for Steve McClaren's side but has spent spells on loan at Blackpool, Carlisle, Bournemouth and Bury in the past two season's making 22 starts in total.

Bolton youngster Jeff Smith can play on either wing and has made eight appearances for the Trotters in the past three years. He also spent a spell on loan at Macclesfield last season where he scored twice in eight appearances.

The Iron's other new recruit is 19-year-old frontman Cleveland Taylor, also from Bolton. The young hitman made his first appearance for Sam Alladyce's men when he came on as a sub towards the end of Bolton's shock 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Tranmere Rovers last night.

He has also spent loan spells at Exeter and Scarborough last season where he scored four goals in 11 appearances.

Laws said: "They're three players that have got a lot of energy and the freshness that will see us go up the table."
