Laws `delighted` with result

A 44th minute header from steve Torpey earned the three points, ending a barren run of results which saw Scunny without a win since the Plymouth game before christmas.

“I’m delighted with the result, but the performance hardly matched it,” Laws told the media after the game.

“After the game at Bristol Rovers when we played well but only got a point I’m sure the supporters will accept not playing well and getting all three points.

“Terry Barwick has had to step up from the youth team because we have six midfielders currently out.

“We didn’t really have a lot of options on the bench so I couldn’t really change things. Credit to the lads they worked very hard and in the end it was enough to claim the points.

“Hopefully we will have a few more options when we go to Plymouth. Matthew Sparrow was suffering from flu and hopefully he and Wayne Graves will be back.

“Martin Carruthers was also rested today because he hasn’t done a lot of training since returning from injury and I think that showed against Exeter in midweek.”
