"The exercise was for the purpose of fitness, we have an important game coming up on Saturday and that's why I changed the team round dramatically from the first half to the second".

"I didnt want to lose any confidence with the team I feel will play on Saturday so therefore I tried to mix it up the best I could in order to give around twenty players a run out tonight".

"Obviously in the back of your mind you want to try and not take a thumping but Villa have played very well tonight and made us work very hard".

"I've just told the players the important thing you take out of this is it was a good training session, nothing more, nothing less".

"If this was a game of any magnitude we wouldn't play like that. I insisted to the players before the game, let's not take any injuries, any 50/50's pull out".

"My sole priority was to get to the end of this week with a full bill of health".

Laws confirmed that both Graves and Parton will be fit by Saturday and Paul Hayes was rested as he currently has a couple of bad blisters on the back of his heel.
