United crashed 5-2 at Oakwell, and were lucky to only lose by a three goal margin.

The final whistle saw fans confront Laws and some of the players as they left the pitch.

Laws said: I know the supporters are very frustrated, in the nine years that I've been here that's the worst I've seen and I'm angry and upset.

"That result hurt me massively. The supporters gave me a lot of stick and, on that show, I deserved every bit of it.

"I will take their criticism, I pick the team and have to make sure they do their jobs properly."

And after calling the players in for extra training, Laws expects a reaction in the LDV Vans Trophy at The Shay on Tuesday night, ahead of Friday's League game against Nottingham Forest at Glanford Park.

He added: "We need to use the Halifax game to build our confidence up for the game against Nottingham Forest.

"It's not a punishment, it's a stepping stone for our next performance. I've got to use the game as best I can."
