On Wednesday Laws described reports that he was due to be interviewed by the Championship club as "speculation".
And on Thursday, after admitting he has spoken to the Owls and is now on the shortlist to become their new boss, he insisted he has not mislead Iron fans.
He told BBC Radio Humberside: "Dishonesty is a strong word and I dont agree with that, I was asked if I had been offered the job and that was pure speculation
"I haven't been offered the job, there were a lot of discussions to take place.
"I haven't lied, I have not been offered the job and that is fact."
