Laws searches for fresh blood

With Cliff Byrne returning to Sunderland and Steve Torpey ruled out until the end of the season there is room for a player or two more in the squad, and Laws has admitted that he would like to bring in someone else.

As Byrne has been tipped to return to Glanford Park if he is not offered a new deal at Sunderland, and Torps to come back from his injury in the summer then a loan deal may be the preferred option for Laws.

Jamie McCombe returned to the starting lineup yesterday to replace Byrne, and 19-year-old YT Paul Hayes has stood in for Torps: but Laws has few options if either of these two pick up injuries or suspensions.

Brian Laws said: "We are certainly looking, my job is to be out there looking and assessing the situation and that is what I will be doing over the next few weeks."

Laws may be tempted to try and bring in former Iron loanee David Reeves from Chesterfield, a player who previously wanted to move to United but was blocked by his club.

He is available for loan, and a move to Hull City fell through this week when they couldn't agree personal terms.
