Laws settles for ugly victory

Second half goals from Mark Jackson and Richard Kell saw United come from a goal down to win 2-1 in the LDV Vans Trophy First Round game at Glanford Park, but apart from the result there were few positives to take from the game.

Laws said: "When we fell behind again to an early goal, it was a real test of character for the players.

"To have been beaten again after two successive league defeats would have been soul-destroying for them.

"Before the start I would gladly have settled for a scruffy, ugly victory - and really that is what we got.

"I am delighted with the result, but I cannot be pleased with the performance. It was poor."
