Laws wanted more from midfield

A first half penalty from Wayne Carlisle condemed United to defeat this afternoon, the fourth consecutive match in which the Iron have failed to find the back of the net.

According to Laws however the strikers should not take all of the blame - he feels that a goal should have come from elsewhere in the team.

He said: "We cannot afford to keep looking a gift horse in the mouth and that's what we've done today.

"We created enough chances in the first half to have had the game sewn up.

"If the forwards are not scoring then someone else has got to contribute.

"The penalty was their first shot they had on target. That's disappointing from our point of view, given the chances we had before.

"This is our fourth successive league defeat and it leaves us in danger of losing touch with the play-off positions."
