A 3-1 success at Gillingham last weekend was followed up with a 2-1 win at Port Vale on Tuesday night.

The results move United into the top half of the table, and the importance is underlined by the gap to the bottom four - six points, the exact number gained this week.

But Laws knows that a poor result against Pools, who are also battling for League One survival, could claw them right back into the relegation dogfight.

He told BBC Radio Humberside: "The wins have pushed us high up the division, let's not waste it.

"This could be a fantastic week for us, and a couple more wins now could really make us safe."

On-loan Fulham midfielder Michael Timlin could make his Iron debut against the Monkey Hangers, with Richie Hinds a doubt thanks to a groin injury suffered against Vale in midweek.
